My name is Dave Pinion, I am a retired international subsea cable engineer. One of my passions is the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration in the first quarter of the 20th century. In 2023 I made the trip of a lifetime to Antarctica. My expedition ship sailed from New Zealand to the Ross Sea where we visited the expedition huts of Scott and Shackleton, the Ross Ice Shelf, then traversed halfway round the Antarctic continent to the Antarctic Peninsula, and finally via Deception Island to Argentina, 33 days in total. Standing in the footsteps of my heroes was the most incredible experience and left me wanting to share it, and Antarctica, with other people.
