Join Martin Lloyd as we discover the truth about writers, publishers and bookshops.
In a step by step exposé you will learn what I had to do to get my first book published. Prepare to be informed, shocked, amazed and amused.'

I started writing when I was nine years old.
I received my first rejection slip at eighteen.
I had my first book published at fifty three.
This is the story of my meteoric rise to stardom.
My primary school teacher opined that I was, ‘good at English composition,’
and I knew that I enjoyed writing but it was clear to me that
this could not be a proper job.
I had not been nurtured in a literary home where my father had
edited a leading London newspaper or my aunt had thrived as a literary agent,
so after college I proudly started my first job –
administering automatic toilet disinfectors in Wembley.
It took me half my working life to admit that I had only ever wanted to be a writer.
Now, with fourteen titles published, this is the tale of how I did it.
